New Fujifilm Film Simulation Recipe (Early Access)
Get early access to my upcoming Fujifilm film simulation recipe built on the Classic Negative base.
The goal with this recipe was to make something moodier, grainier, and lean into more stark contrast. All the while still being carefully tuned for melanated skin tones. I went back and forth through multiple iterations, tuned versions that didn’t feel right, and landed on version 3.5 - the first version that feels worth pushing into real-world testing.
Unlike Reggie’s Portra, which was tuned for versatility and dynamic-range management, this recipe is more heavy-handed and film-forward. It is not meant to capture every tonal value in a scene nor recreate true-to-life color.
Instead, it leans into predictable tonal tradeoffs and hue shifts that is reminiscent of film. This behavior is by design and a result of the tonality response of the Classic Negative film simulation.
Note:
The recipe will be released publicly for free on 2/27/2026 alongside a full YouTube breakdown. Early access simply allows you to start using it sooner and helps support the testing costs and development process.
Compatibility Warning:
This recipe is for Fujifilm cameras only and requires the Classic Negative film simulation. Please ensure your Fujifilm camera model includes this base simulation before purchasing.
